Long before bridges spanned the Thames, London's watermen carried people, goods and stories along the river. This traditional porter is brewed with the mineral-rich spring water of Gibbston's Flek Water, whose profile echoes the waters that shaped the great porters of old. Layers of chocolate malt, toasted crust, and gentle roast drift across a smooth, balanced palate. Rich with history and quietly complex, it's a tribute to the tides that carried the city.
There are loads of rad local businesses out there, and in the Gibbston Valley, just north of Queenstown, we were introduced to Paul from Fleck Water. Fleck source water from a spring that births up to 50-year-old snowmelt from the surrounding mountains and boasts a mineral profile that would make an awesome English Porter. Collaborating with Paul and Fleck, we have used 100% of this water to brew this epic style to its best example. Soft and rich on the palate with subtle caramel and chocolate notes, this is a moreish sipper that strongly resonates with a Thames-side beer garden and a copy of The Times. Best on nitro.
